RESOLUTION NO. 78-24
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA COMMENDING MR. EDWARD F.
COLBURN FOR HIS COMMUNITY SERVICE.
WHEREAS,
Edward F. Colburn joined the staff of the American
National Red Cross in January of 1943 to work with
Service to the Armed Forces; and
WHEREAS,
from 1943 to 1950 he served at many military installa-
tions in the Western United States, including Camp
Stoneman and the San Francisco Bay area as well as
with a joint Army/Navy maneuver from the West Coast
to Hawaii and back; and
WHEREAS,
from 1950 to 1951 he served with the Second Infantry
Division in Korea; and
WHEREAS,
from 1952 to 1960 he served with Western Area Office
in San Francisco, Montana and Los Angeles as a field
representative and as Western Area Assistant Director
of Service to Military Installations; and
WHEREAS,
from 1960 to 1966 he served as manager of the San
Bernardino Red Cross Chapter; and
WHEREAS,
from 1966 to the present he has served as manager of
the Orange County Red Cross Chapter, guiding the merger
of several independent chapters to a str0r~countywide
organization serving all residents; and
WHEREAS,
throughout a long and successful career, he has
exemplified the attributes of humanitarianism, concern
for his fellow man and an abiding interest in the
improvement of the quality of life for all;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA:
That Edward F. Colburn, on the occasion of his retire-
ment on March 31, 1978, is to be lauded and extolled
for his splendid quality of dedicated community
service for 35 years in the Red Cross service, provid-
ing an exemplary standard for others to emulate. The
City of Santa Ana is proud and grateful to have had
Edward F. Colburn as a community leader, Red Cross
Manager, and dedicated citizen.
