RESOLUTION NO. 78-111
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIPORNIA, VACATING
THOSE PORTIONS OF SECOND STREET, GARNSEY
STREET, PARTON STREET, AND ALL EAST-WEST
ALLEYS IN THE AREA BOUNDED BY FIRST STREET,
FLOWER STREET, THIRD STREET, AND FORMER
VAN NESS AVENUE, IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA.
WHEREAS, this Council heretofore adopted, on July 25,
1978, Resolution No. 78-96, where it declared its intention
to vacate, pursuant to and in accordance with the provisions
of Part 3 of Division 9 of the Streets and Highways Code of
the State of California, those portions of Second Street,
Garnsey Street, Parton Street, and all east-west alleys in
the area bounded by First Street, Flower Street, Third
Street, and former Van Ness Avenue, said portions of said
streets and alleys being specifically described in said
Resolution and reference being made in said Resolution to a
certain map on file in the office of the Clerk of the Council
for full particulars as to such proposed vacation; and
WHEREAS, said Resolution gave notice that on
August 21, 1978, at 7:30 p.m. or as soon thereafter as the
matter could be heard, in the Council Chambers of the City
of Santa Ana, 20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, California,
this Council would hear any and all persons interested in or
objecting to said proposed vacation of the said portions of
said streets and alleys; and
WHEREAS, this Council finds that said Resolution
has been published in the manner prescribed by law for the
publishing of ordinances of the City; and
WHEREAS, this Council further finds that notices
of said proposed street and alley vacation stating the
purposes of said Resolution and time and place set for
hearing were posted as directed by the Council and required
by law; and
WHEREAS, this Council at the time and place set
for hearing has heard any and all persons interested in or
objecting to said proposed vacation of said portions of said
streets and alleys and has received and considered all
evidence submitted; and
WHEREAS, this Council finds from all the evidence
submitted that the said portions of the said streets and
alleys described in the above-mentioned Resolution, and
described more fully in "Exhibit A" attached hereto, is
unnecessary for present or prospective street and alley
purposes and not necessary or convenient for such use, based
upon the following findings of fact:
1. The said streets and alleys are no longer
necessary to serve abutting property owners and occupants
due to the planned redevelopment of the area bounded by
First Street, Flower Street, Third Street, and former Van
Ness Avenue.

area by decreasing excessive rights of way, traffic intersections,
and small, inefficient blocks.
WHEP~AS, pursuant to the provisions of § 2381 of
the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California,
the City Council does hereby find and determine that none of
said streets and alleys, nor parts thereof, are useful as
non-motorized transportation facilities;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
Santa Ana does hereby order that those portions of Second
Street, Garnsey Street, Parton Street and all east-west
alleys in the area bounded by First Street, Flower Street,
Third Street, and former Van Ness Avenue, in the City of
Santa Aha, more fully described in "Exhibit A" attached
hereto and made a part hereof by this reference, be and is
hereby vacated.
The Clerk of the Council is hereby directed to
cause a certified copy hereof, attested by her under seal,
to be recorded forthwith in the Office of the Recorder of
Orange County.

recorded in Book 13, page 47 of Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County,
California, bounded Easterly by the West line of Van Ness Avenue, 60 feet wide,
(formerly Lowe Street), bounded Westerly by the East line of Patton Street, as
shown on said map.

That portion of Second Street, SO feet in width, together with that portion of
Parton Street, 60 feet in width, in the City of Santa Aha, County of Orange,
California, as shown on a map of the "Jacob Ross Tract in the Ross Addition to
the Town of Santa Ana", recorded in Book 5, page 582 of Miscellaneous Records
of Los Angeles County, California, bounded Northerly by the South line of Third
Street, 60 feet in width, bounded Westerly by the East line of Garnsey Street,
60 feet in width, and bounded Southerly by the Easterly prolongation of a line
parallel and distant 40.0 feet Northerly, measured at right angles, from the
South line of Block g in said "Jacob Ross Tract" as shown on said map.

The Southerly 6 feet of Lots 1 and 2 together with the Northerly 6 feet of
Lots 3 and 4 all in Block 9 of the "Jacob Ross Tract in the Ross Tract in the
Ross Addition to the Town of Santa Aha", in the City of Santa Ana, County of
Orange, California, recorded in Book 5, page 582 of Miscellaneous Records of
Los Angeles County, California.
Parcel 4:
That portion of Garnsey Street, 60 feet in width, in the City of Santa Ana,
County of Orange, California, bounded Easterly by the West lines of Blocks
4 and 9 in the "Jacob Ross Tract in the Ross Addition to the Town of Santa Aha"
as shown on a map recorded in Book 5, page 582 of Miscellaneous Records of
Los Angeles County, California; bounded Westerly by the East lines of
Blocks J and K in the Ross Addition to Santa Ana as shown on a map recorded
in Book 3, page 534 of Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, California;
bounded Northerly by the Easterly prolongation of the North line of said Block J;
bounded Southerly by a line parallel and distant 40.00 feet Northerly, measured
at right angles from the South line of said Block K.

County, California, bounded Easterly by the Northerly prolongation of the East
line of Block K of said Ross Addition, bounded Westerly by the following described
line:
Beginning at a point in the centerline of First Street as shown on said
Map of the Ross Addition to the City of Santa Aha, said point also lying on
& line parallel to and distant Easterly 54.00 feet, measured at right angles,
from the centerline of Flower Street as shown on said Map; thence Northerly
along said parallel line 263.06 feet to the beginning of a tangent curve
concave Easterly having a radius of 3200.00 feet; thence Northerly along
said curve to a point of tangency with a line that passes through a point

last mentioned point being distant Easterly 62.4B feet, measured at right
