Each member of the City Council having received copies of the MAnures of the meeti~
of October 6, 1958, reading of the Minutes was dispensed with and approved on motion
of Councilman Gould, seconded by Ns11 amd carried.

This being the date set for hearing on annexation to the City of certain uninhabited
territory designated '~linger and Center N. Annex"; no written protests were received.
Mr. Virgil Elkins, 2210 North Poplar Street, objected orally to having his property
--nexed to the City of Santa ~-, because of the assessed valuation of the complete
--~exation and requested information on the type of zoning of the property. Mrs.
Albert Lewis, l~.l East Ed~Eer Street protested against the property being taken
into the City as R-1 District and was informed that she could conduct her Real
Estate business as a non-conforming use without having the property rezoned if and
when the property is an---~ed. The May~r closed the hearing. On motion of Council-
w~, Gould, seconded by Markel and carried, the following Ordinance entitled:

On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, Map of Tract No.
2~B7 filed by Barton Mortgage C~npany for $~e dedication of McFadden Street, Minnie
Street and alleys, also access rights on McFadden Street, except of street inter-
section, and bond in the -m~uut of $50,000.00 were approved, license tax in the
sum of $2,000.00 accepted and agreement coveriag improvements was ordered signed.
On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, Revised Tentative
Map of Tract No. 24~2 filed by ~,~-t~E~m Company on property consiett-g of approx-
imately 20 acres, bounded on the north by Chestnut Street, on the west by a line
approximately ~00 feet west of the S.P.Railrond, on the east by a line appro~mately
~96 feet west of the $.P.Eailroad and on the south by a line approxtm-tely 21~2
feet south of Chestnut Street, was approved subject to conditions.

On recommendation of the Planning C.-~.~mt~sion and on motion of Counct~m~- Gould,
seconded by Hubbard and carried, the request of George L. Taney was granted for a
ninety-day extension of time on Variance Application No. 970, granted April 7, 1958,
to permit construction of building on property situated at 17~0 East 17th Street to
be used forrestnurant and one retail-type store.

favored the application ami called attention to the number of signs now in place on

the matter was continued until the next meeting.

shops (each approximately 25' x ~O') with a~equate off-street parking space, sub-
Ject to conditions. J.E.Johnson, 854 McFadzlen Street, stated he represented the
fifty-one protestants on the petition, and strenuously objected to a m-rket being
built in the residential area near their h~mes. Kenneth R. Turtenwald, 8~
McFadden Street, spoke a~out the noise an~ traffic resulting fr~a the operation of
this type of bus~---ss. Berb Rys~-, 902 McFad~len Street, also objected to the
granting of the variance and the proposed alley in front of his house. Attorney
Smedegaax~, representing the ~ant, informed the Council that a .m.11 m, rket
is needed in the section and it would be operated as a Tiny Tim Market. I)e stated
that Mr. Nal I has no objection to constructing the solid block w-11 before starting
construction of the b,,tldiug and the property has a four-lane highway on each side.

subject to the cond/tions of the Planning Ommaission and the Depa~-tment of Public

of M.F.Barrus for a 50-foot driveway at 1911 South Evergreen Stree$,at the time
the concrete work is done in Assessment District No. 199, was granted.
The Oouncil having ,m~nlmously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of
Counctlm~n Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the following Resolution entitled:
"Resolution No. 58-268 eonoer~ng parking limitations and curb
markings in accordance therewith"
establishing red clearance zones adjacent to the driveway of the new parking lot
of Buf~"w- at the northeast corner of Ninth a.~ Hush Streets, as recommended by the
