R~SOLUTION NO. 79-43
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA SUPPORTING SENATE BILL 382.
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 382 seeks to add section
2426.5 and amend section 2426 of the Health and Safety Code
relating to pest abatement; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 382 would require the State
Department of Health Services to enter an agreement at the
request of certain local agencies to provide financial
assistance not to exceed 50% of the total cost of any acceptable
plan for controlling of certain pests; and
W~HEREAS, the Orange County Vector Control District
has incurred a budget reduction averaging 60% due to the
passage of Proposition 13; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana
desires to protect the health and comfort of its citizens by
assisting in the elimination of pests.
NOW, THEREFOI{E, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA:
1. That the City Council hereby proclaims its
support for Senate Bill 382.
2. That the Clerk of the Council is directed to
distribute copies of this Resolution to Senators Vuich,
Johnson and Sieroty, Assemblymen Chappie, Duffy, Lehman and
Thurman, and to all members of the State Legislature representing
constituents in Orange County.
