RESOLUTION NO. 79-58
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA SUPPORTING THE PERIPHERAL CANAL LEGISLATION
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana relies on importation of
water from the State Water Project by the Metropolitan Water
District of Southern California; and
WHEREAS, construction of the Peripheral Canal in the
Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta is urgently needed in order to
help relieve the State Project of water deficiencies and
protect the Delta environment; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Water District proposes legis-
lation that would require prompt construction of the Periph-
eral Canal and related Delta facilities, independently of
prior congressional approval or state authorization of other
water facilities, since that approval or authorization could
extensively delay Peripheral Canal construction;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA ANA:
That the City of Santa Ana supports legislation requir-
ing prompt construction of the Peripheral Canal and related
Delta facilities, independently of prior congressional
approval or state authorization of other water facilities,
as proposed by The Metropolitan Water District of Southern
California.
