Present: Councilmen Absent: Councilmen In re Canvass Election Returns Royal E. Hubbard, Stanley C. Gould, Jr., A. A. Hall, J. Ogden ~arkel, Dale H. Heialy None This being the date to canvass voters ballots and it satisfactorily appears to the City Council of the City of Santa Aha that notice of the General Municipal Election was duly and regularly held on April 7, 1959, according to law. On motion of Counc!lm~n Murkel, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the Clerk was ordered to proceed with the canvassing of the ballots. There were fifty-eight voting precincts established for the purpose of holding said Election, consisting of a consolidation of the regular election precincts established for holding the last General State and County elections. On motion of Councilman Hall, seconded by Gould and carried, Reso. No. 59-81 Declaring result of General ~unicipal Election held April 7, 1959 the Clerk was authorized to proceed with the canvassing of the absentee ballots. The Clerk declared the result of the General Municipal Election and the Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the following Resolution entitled: "Resolution No. 59-8~ stating and declaring the result of the canvass of Election returns of the General Municipal Election held in the City of Santa Ana, California, on April 7th, 1959" was considered and passed by the following vote: Clerk's statement Result of General ~unicipal Election held April 7, 1959 Ayes, Councilmen Noe s, Councilmen Absent, Councilmen Royal E. Heinly and Bdb Brewer, duly elected as members of the City Council for the ensuing term of four years and residing in Ward 2 and Ward 4 r~spectively. Meeting called to order by the Clerk of the Council. Roll Call Present: Councilmen Absent: Councilmen Bob Brewer, Stanley C. Gould, Jr., A. A. Hall, Royal E. Hubbard, Dale H. Helnly None A motion was made by Councilman Hubbard and seconded by Hall that Dale H. Heinly be nominated as Mayor of the City of Santa Ana. A motion was made by Councilman Hall and seconded by Hubbard, that the nomination be closed. Roll Call Ayes, Councilmen A.A. Hall, Royal E. Hubbard, Dale H. Heinly Noes, Absent, Motion carried. Councilmen Councilmen Bob Brewer, Stanley C. Gould, Jr., None It was moved by Counci]~n Hall and seconded by Hubbard, that the Clerk be instructed to cast unanimous ballot for Dale H. Heinly as May~r~of the City of Santa Ana. Roll Cai1 Ayes, Councilmen A.A. Hall, Royal E. Hubbard, Dale H. Heinly Noes, Councilmen Bob Brewer, Stanley C. Gould, Jr., Absent, Councilmen None Motion carried. Dale H. Reinly assumed the office of Mayor of the City of Santa Ana. A motion was made by Councilman Hubbard that A. A. Hall be nominated as Vice-Mayor of the City of Santa Aha. A motion was made by Councilman Brewer and seconded by Hubbard, that the nomination be closed. On motion of Councilman Hubbard and seconded by Brewer, the Clerk was instructed to cast unanimous ballot for A. A. Hall as Vice-Mayor. Heinly None None The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Councilman GoUld, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the following Resolution entitled: "Resolution No. 59-82 accepting deed withomt cash consideration" from Mary Ann Gillespie, conveying property for the construction and maintenance of a public street, and also conveying vehicular access rights along the frontage of the same but reserving two 35-foot areas for driveways over property on the south side of Seventeenth Street, east of King Street, was considered and passed by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Noes, Councilmen Absent, Councilmen Bob Brewer, Stanley C. Gould, Jr., A. A. Hall, RoyalE. Hubbard, Dale H. Heioly None None The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of CounciLmen Hall, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the following Resolution entitled Reso. No. 59-84 Authorize execution of a disclaimer of any interest in Harbor Boulevard trunk se~er Reso. No. 59-85 Expressing appreciation to J. Ogden Markel for his service Mayor of~ the City of Santa "Resolution No. 59-83 by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana declaring its position in support of H. R. 4953 for the~removal of the ten per cent excise tax on telephone use charges" was considered and p~ssed~y the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Bob Brewer, Stanley C. Gould, Jr., A. A. Hall, Royal E. Hubbard, Dale H. Heinly Noes, Councilmen None Absent, Councilmen None Tbe Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the following Resolution entitled: "Resolution No. 59-8~ authorizing execution of a disclaimer of any interest in the Harbor Boulevard trunk sewer" as ~retofore the Santavoit Corporation and the Segerstrom family jointly con- structed a 12-inch vitrified clay pipe sewer within the right of way of Harbor Boulevard, running north from Huntzinger Road in County Sanitation District No. 7 of Orange County, California, which said sewer line is not now in use for the transportion of sewerage, and said Santavoit Corporation and the Segerstrem family have entered into an agreement whereunder they are selling and conveying all of their title and interest in and to said sewer line to the said County Sanitation District No. 7, and said County Sanitation District No. 7 is buying the same, w~s considered and passed by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Bob Brewer, Stanley C. Gould, Jr., A. A. Hall, Royal E. Nubbard, Dale H. Heinly Noes, Councilmen None Absent, Councilmen None The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Councilm~n Brewer, seconded by Hall and carried, the following Resolution entitled: "Resolution No. 59-85 expressing appreciation to J. Ogden Markel for his outstanding service as a Councilman of the City of Santa ~ua" was considered and the Mayor declared the Resolution ~nanimously adopted.
