HomeMy WebLinkAbout79-200KLG: ar 10/30/79 RESOLUTION NO. 79- 200 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA OPPOSING ASSEMBLY BILL NO. 1684 RELATING TO CONSTRUCTION SITE TOILETS WHEREAS, Assembly Bill No. 1684 seeks to amend sections of the Health and Safety Code relating to con- struction sites, to require additional inspection duties by building inspectors of toilets on construction job sites; and WHEREAS, historically the City of Santa Ana has received no complaints from tradesmen in the field, or- ganized labor, the general public, or the Orange County Health Department Division of Environmental Sanitation regarding the sanitary conditions of toilet facilities at construction sites; and WHEREAS, said bill would require the Building Department to log periodic, or continuous, head counts of those working at a construction job site to determine the adequacy of toilet facilities; and WHEREAS, the city has a limited number of building inspectors, who can better spend their time for more press- ing problems relating to enforcement of the Uniform Building Code, and other life safety regulations; and WHEREAS, in the spirit of Proposition 13, the City of Santa Ana does not wish to hire additional building in- spectors for the purpose of observing toilet requirements on a job site. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA: To oppose Assembly Bill No. 1684, and direct the Clerk of the Council to send certified copies of this reso- lution to the legislators representing Santa Ana, the Assembly and Senate Committees on Labor, Employment and Consumer Affairs, and the Orange County Division of the League of California Cities. 1979, ADOPTED this 5th day of November , by the following vote~' AYES: COUNCILMEN: Bricken~ Ymrkel, Ward, Yamamoto NOES: COUNCILMEN: Serrat0 ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: Griset, Luxembourger ATTEST: ?fK OF THE COU CIy APPROVED AS TO FORM: CITY ATTORNEY
