RESOLUTION NO. 80-48
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
ANA OPPOSING ACA 56, NOW PENDING IN THE STATE LEGISLATURE
WHEREAS, the charter of the City of Santa Ana
prescribes what public work may, and what may not, be done
by force account; and
WHEREAS, ACA 56 would subject charter cities to
state legislative control over their use of force account,
and over their competitive bidding requirements; and
WHEREAS, this Council is of the opinion that such
matters are legitimately of only local concern, as to which
the voters of the city should retain local control;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS:
1. That this Council does oppose passage of ACA
56 (Mello), now pending in the Assembly, and does urge the
members of the Assembly and the State Senate not to pass
said bill.
2. The Clerk of the Council is hereby directed to
mail a copy of this resolution to each member of the State
Legislature who represents this city, or any portion thereof.
