A RESOLUTION OF THE SANTA ANA
CITY COUNCIL ENSORSING SENATE
BILL 937 ON INDUSTRIAL AND
NON-INDUSTRIAL DISABILITY RE-
TIREMENTS
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 937 would amend the Government
Code relating to the Public Employees Retirement System; and
WHEREAS, this amendment would require that pensions
for industrial disability retirees be reduced to an amount
which, when added to the compensation earned monthly, would
not exceed the maximum compensation earnable in the position
held by the retiree at the time of retirement; and
WHEREAS, present law reduces disability retirement
benefits for the non-industrial disability retiree, when the
retiree engages in gainful employment; and
WHEREAS, this legislation would eliminate the
disparity between industrial and non-industrial disability
retirements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA: That the Santa Aha City Council
does support this legislation and requests all cities within
the County of Orange to do the same.
