RESOLUTION NO. 80-126
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA IN SUPPORT OF A
BREAKFAST AND LUNCH NUTRITION PROGRAM
FOR NEEDY SCHOOL CHILDREN
WHEREAS the City Council of Santa Ana has given
its support to nutrition programs for needy senior citizens
residing in Santa Ana; and
WHEREAS the City Council is likewise concerned
with the nutritional needs of certain young children
attending Santa Ana's grammar schools; and
WHEREAS the City Council understands the
importance of good nutrition in a successful learning
program; and
WHEREAS the
recent judicial ruling
the Santa Ana schools;
City Council has become aware of the
concerning the nutrition programs in
and
WHEREAS there are Santa Ana children whose
physical and educational future would benefit by a soundly-
organized breakfast and lunch program; and
WHEREAS, Federal and State support exist to fund
this kind of program:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City
Council of the City of Santa Ana offers its encouragement to
the Santa Ana Unified School District Board of Trustees for
its support and adoption of a breakfast and lunch nutrition
program for our needy school children; and
FURTHERMORE, the City Council recommends that
consideration be given to any and all efforts to better
manage the nutrition programs in our schools and reduce all
possible waste of food and abuse of programs by recipients.
