RESOLUTION NO.80-87
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA ELIMINATING THE LEFT-
TURN MOVEMENT FROM THE SOUTHBOUND SANTA
ANA FREEWAY OFF-RAMP AT MAIN STREET.
WHEREAS, the provisions for a protected left-turn
from the southbound Santa Ana Freeway to northbound Main
Street inordinately delay the movement of the heavy volume
of traffic on Main Street and on Santa Clara Avenue; and
WHEREAS, acceptable alternate routes are available
to this traffic; and
WHEREAS, elimination of the movement will alleviate
the existing congestion; and
WHEREAS, the State of California is currently
engaged in a construction project under which said turning
movement can be easily, effectively and economically removed;
and
WHEREAS, the State of California agrees as to the
desirability of eliminating said movement as an item under
the aforementioned project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA that the Director of Public Works
is authorized and directed to take such action as is necessary
or appropriate to eliminate the left-turn movement from the
southbound Santa Ana Freeway off-ramp at Main Street, and to
obtain the cooperation of the State of California in achieving
such elimination in the course of its current construction
project at such site.
