A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 58-281 TO ADD THE
CLASS TITLE OF PARAMEDIC TO THE CITY'S BASIC
CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION PLANS.
WHEREAS, on November 3, 1958, the City Council passed and adopted
Resolution No. 58-281, revising and re-establishing the Basic Compensation Plan
for all officers and employees of the City of Santa Aha; and
WHEREAS, Section 1004, Article X of the City Charter of the City of
Santa Ana requires the City Manager to prepare, install and maintain a position
classification and pay plan subject to Civil Service Rules and Regulations and
the approval of the City Council; and
and
WHEREAS, the City Council has from time to time amended said Resolution;
WHEREAS, it is now desired to add a new class to the City's Basic
Classification and Compensation Plans for the purpose of classifying and fixing
levels of compensation for newly authorized civilian paramedic positions in the
Fire Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS:
1. That Section 3 of Resolution No. 58-281, as amended, is hereby further
amended by:
a. Adding, in proper alphabetical sequence, the class title of
PARAMEDIC: and
Assigning said new class, in accordamce with the current negotiated
two-year salary adjustment schedule for represented classes of the
Fire Department, to the salary rate ranges on the effective dates
as next herein set out:
Effective Date
February 1, 1982
July 1, 1982
January 1, 1983
Salary Rate Ranses
No. 415 ($1580-$1921)
No. 427 ($1676-$2037)
No. 433 ($1725-$2097)
Adding the following salary differential notation applicable to the
class of Paramedic to the list of such notations footnoted at the
end of Section 3:
(b)
Employees in the civilian class of Paramedic who
possess a valid current license as a Registered Nurse
from the State of California Board of Registered
Nurses shall be paid at a rate set twenty (20) rate
ranges (10%) above their current base monthly rate.

2. That this Resolution shall be operative from and after February 1, 1982.
