RESOLUTION NO. 82-68
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA INDICATING INTENT TO
CREATE DOWNTOWN AND FRENCH PARK HISTORIC
DISTRICTS
WHEREAS it is the expressed intent of the City of
Santa Ana to assist and encourage rehabilitation and
revitalization of buildings within the City; and
WHEREAS, a component part of this revitalization
is the enhancement and preservation of historic structures;
and
essential
City; and
WHEREAS, said historic structures play an
role in the character and cultural fabric Of the
WHEREAS providing incentives to encourage said
preservation is therefore in the best interest of the City;
and
WHEREAS, this incentive program would create
interest in and opportunities for preservation and
rehabilitation efforts; and
WHEREAS an initial step in this incentive program
is an indication of the City's intent to create and
formalize a Downtown and French Park Historic District; and
WHEREAS said indication will allow processing for
financial and tax benefits for individual historic
properties to commence; and
WHEREAS this resolution assumes no obligation on
the part of the City with respect to the ultimate formation
of said districts;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS:

That the City of Santa Ana intends to submit on
behalf of interested property owners formal applications for
certified historic districts located in the downtown area
and in the French Park area, said applications to be
submitted within thirty (30) months.
ADOPTED this 7th day of June , 1982.
