A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
ESTABLISHING UNDERGROUND UTILITY DISTRICT NO. 20
WHEREAS, by Minute Order dated July 19, 1982, a public hearing
was called for August 16, 1982 at the hour of 7:30 p.m., at the Council
Chambers of the City Hall, 22 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, California, to
ascertain whether the public necessity, health, safety, or welfare requires
the removal of poles, overhead wires and associated overhead structures,
and the underground installation of wires and facilities for supplying
electrical communication or similar or associated service, for the formation
of the Underground Utility District No. 20 within that certain area of the
City described as follows:
1. The triangular area bounded northeasterly by the Santa Aha
Freeway, southerly by the extension of the south right-of-way line of Buffalo
Avenue and westerly by a line 70 feet west of the centerline of Main Street.
2. The area bounded westerly by Broadway, easterly by Main Street,
northerly and southerly by lines 70 feet from the centerline of Santa Clara
Avenue.
3. The area bounded southerly by the south right-of-way line of Santa
Clara Avenue, northerly by Owens Drive, westerly and easterly by lines 70 feet
from the centerline of Broadway.

4. The area bounded westerly by Arnett Drive, easterly by Main Street,
by a line 70 feet north of the centerline of Owens Drive and southerly
230 feet south of the same centerline;

WHEREAS, notice of such hearing has been given to all affected property
such are shown on the last equalized assessment roll and to all utilities
in the manner and within the time required by law; and
WHEREAS, such hearing has been duly and regularly held, and all persons
interested have been given an opportunity to be heard;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Santa Aha:
1. That pursuant to Santa Ana Municipal Code Sections 37-1 to 37-13,
the above-described area is hereby declared an Underground Utility District,
and is designated as Underground Utility District No. 20 of the City of Santa
Ana. Attached hereto, marked Exhibit "A", and hereby incorporated as a part
of this Resolution, is a map delineating the boundaries of said District.
2. That the City Council does hereby fix August l, 1983 as the date
on which affected property owners must be ready to receive underground service,
and does hereby order the removal of all poles, overhead wires and associated
overhead structures and the underground installation of wires and facilities
for supplying electric, communication, or similar or associated service within
Underground Utility District No. 20 on or before October l, 1983.

3. That the Clerk of the Council is hereby instructed to notify all
affected utilities and all persons owning real property within Underground
Utility District No. 20 of the adoption of this Resolution within ten (lO) days
after the date of such adoption. Such notification shall be made by mailing a
copy of this Resolution, together with a copy of said Santa Ana Municipal Code
Sections 37-1 to 37-13 to all affected property owners as such are shown on
the last equalized assessment roll and to the affected utilities.
4. That the City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds and
determines as follows, upon the basis of the evidence presented at said hearing;
that the public necessity, health, safety and welfare require the removal of
poles, overhead wires and associated overhead structures within said area of the
City, and the underground installati'on of wires and facilities for supplying
electric, communication, and similar or associated services, so as to eliminate
hazards caused by fallen lines and poles and to improve visibility of pedestrian
traffic to vehicle drivers.
