HomeMy WebLinkAbout82-154RESOLUTION NO. 82- 154 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA REAFFIRMING CITY POLICY TO ACTIVELY PURSUE ANNEXATION OF INCORPORATED ISLANDS WITHIN THE CITY'S SPHERE OF INFLUENCE WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana had established in June, 1978, a City policy of actively pursuinG annexation of unincorporated islands within the City's sphere of influence; and WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana has pursued annexation of nine unincorporated islands; successfully completinG annexation of seven; and WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana has supported the policies of the Local Agency Formation Commission and the County Board of Supervisors in their desire to eliminate inefficient service delivery systems to unincorporated County islands; and WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana is prepared to extend the full range of municipal services to all unincorporated islands within its sphere of influence; and WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana is prepared to initiate annexation proceedings for the incorporation of islands within its sphere of influence: all NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana that the City of Santa Ana requests a review and alteration of its sphere of influence to include two unincorporated islands located south of Edinger Avenue, north of Warner Avenue, between Harbor Boulevard and the Santa Ana River, as defined in the attached map and legal description, so that the City of Santa Ana may proceed with the elimination of these two unincorporated islands through annexation into the City of Santa Ana. Cooper City Attorney EXHIBIT A LEGAL DESCRIPTION SANTA ANA RIVER AND HARBOR BOULEVARD ANNEXATION Ail that certain real property, being a portion of the Northeast and Southeast quarters of Section 21, the Northwest and Southwest quarters of Section 22, and the Northeast quarter of'Section 28, said Sections in Township 5 South, Range 10 West, San Bernardino Meridian, in the County of Orange, State of Californla,.as shown on that certain Map recorded in Book 51, page 12 of Miscellaneous Maps of said County, described as follows: Beginning at an angle point in the existing boundary of the City of Santa Ana, said angle point being in the West line of the Sullivan and Edinger Annex to the City of Santa Ana; thence Southwesterly along said City boundary to a point of intersection with the Southeasterly prolongation of the existing boundary of the City of Fountain Valley; thence, departing existing boundary of the City of Santa Ana, North 18°16'42'' West 470 feet, more or less, to a point in the existing boundary of the City of Fountain Valley; thence along said existing boundary of the City of Fountain Valley as created by "Annex No. 2", "Annex No. 76-1", 'Annex No. 2", and the "Harbor-Edinger Annexation' through its various courses in a generally Northerly, Easterly , No~rtheasterly, Westerly, Northerly, Easterly and Northeasterly. direction to a point in the existing boundary of the City of Santa Aha, said point being the Southwest corner of the Santa Aha River South of Fifth Street Annex; thence, departing existing boundary of the City of Fountain Valley, Southeasterly along said boundary to the Point of Beginning. The above described parcel of land contains 78.5acres. Attached hereto and made a part hereof is a Map designated Exhibit B.
