RESOLUTION NO. 83-26
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA REGARDING GENERAL
IMPROVEMENTS AT JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana
recognizes the importance of improved air transportation for
Orange County; and,
WHEREAS, such air transportation is vital to the
economic well being of the county; and,
WHEREAS, the present airport facilities are
totally inadequate to serve our two million (2,000,000)
residents, now and in the future; and,
WHEREAS, a new airport site which may be available
would require ten (10) years to develop, and would eliminate
the need for improvements at John Wayne Airport, Orange
County; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has not
determined a new site in the county for an airport; and,
WHEREAS, additional passenger and air cargo
flights are necessary and consistent with the 1981 Master
Plan; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana
desires to recommend improvements in terminal space,
additional parking, ground traffic considerations, runway
upgrade and other facilities as deemed necessary.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Santa Ana is in full support of improvements
outlined in the above recitals for John Wayne Airport, Orange

County, and respectfully urges the Orange County Board of
Supervisors to promptly move ahead with the steps necessary
to implement said improvements.
