A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
SUBMIT APPLICATIONS TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
UNDER THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION
(EDA) JOBS BILL
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana is in the process of constructing
the Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center, and
WHEREAS, there is a need for additional storms drains in the City,
WHEREAS, there aremonies available nationwide for projects that
will create local employment, and
WHEREAS, there are insufficient local funds to provide for the
construction of both the Regional Transportation Center
and storm drains as required in Santa Ana, and
WHEREAS, Santa Ana currently experiences high levels of
unemployment and poverty in the project areas, and
WHEREAS, the Regional Transportation Center and storm drain
projects will result in short term and long term
employment opportunities:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA:
That the City Manager is authorized to submit a grant
application of $2 million for construction of the Regional
Transportation Center, as well as an application of $880,000
for storm drain construction under the provision of the
Economic Development Administration Jobs Bill.
ADOPTED this 20th day of June ,1983.
