RESOLUTION NO. 83- 83
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
SUBMIT APPLICATIONS TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
FOR URBAN DEVELOPMENT ACTION GRANT (UDAG) FUNDS
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana is in the process
of constructing the Santa Ana Regional Transportation
Center, and
WHEREAS, there are monies available nationwide for
projects that will create local employment and encourage
private development, and
WHEREAS, there are insufficient local funds to
provide for the construction of the Regional Transportation
Center as required in Santa Ana, and
WHEREAS, Santa Ana currently experiences high
levels of unemployment and poverty in the project area, and
WHEREAS, the Regional Transportation Center will
result in short term and long term employment opportunities,
as well as stimulate private investment in the area:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA:
That the City Manager is authorized to submit a
grant application of up to $4 million for construction of a
parking structure for the Regional Transportation Center,
under the provisions of the Housing and Community
Development Act of 1974, as amended.
