A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION SERVICES TO
SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION
TO FUND CONSTRUCTION OF GRADE SEPARATIONS AT FOURTH STREET
AND THE SANTA FE RAILROAD TRACKS
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Santa Ana has identified
improvements to the Santa Ana Amtrak passenger facility as a top transpor-
tation priority, and
WHEREAS, the Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center project to
bring about these improved passenger facilities and the Cal -Trans Intercity
Commuter rail report recommends grade separations on Fourth Street; and
WHEREAS, the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company has indi-
cated a strong desire to have grade separations constructed as part of the
Intercity Commuter Station project; and
WHEREAS, the California Public Utilities Commission annually adopts
a Grade Crossing Improvement Priority List for projects such as this; and
WHEREAS, the California Public Utilities Commission provides grant
funds to construct crossing improvements from this priority list,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA RESOLVES
that the Director of Transportation Services is authorized and directed to
submit a grant application to the California Public Utilities Commission for
grant funding of grade separation projects at Fourth Street, and the Santa Fe
Railroad Tracks.
