A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTAANATO AUTHORIZE THE CHIEF OF POLICE AND
THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF PARKS, RECREATION
AND COMMUNITY SERVICES TO EXECUTE A GRANT
AWARD AGREEMENT WITH ORANGE COUNTY ON
TRACK.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines and
declares as follows:
The Santa Ana Police Department and the Parks, Recreation and
Community Services have received funding for the Tobacco Free
Communities program through Orange County On Track Organization.
The Tobacco Free Communities Program is a collaborative effort with
health care professionals, city officials, law enforcement, schools, faith
communities, media, business, and parents working together to
significantly reduce tobacco use and exposure to environmental tobacco
smoke.
The Orange County On Track Organization has received a County of
Orange Health Care Agency grant funded by the National Tobacco
Settlement to help create a Tobacco-Free Community in Santa Ana.
The Police Department will receive $40,000 to be used in enforcement
and education efforts relating to the illegal sales of tobacco to minors.
The Parks, Recreation and Community Services will receive $10,000 to
hire one Senior Program Leader to provide tobacco education and arts
activities at El Salvador, Jerome, and Salgado Recreation Centers.
Activities include creating posters; community clean ups, training staff and
community members about the dangers of tobacco, posting signs at
recreation centers, and encouraging smoke free activities.
Approval of the appropriation adjustment will increase revenues in the On
Track Program Grant Revenue Account by $50,000, and appropriating the
same into the On Track Program Grant expenditure account.

Section 2. The City Council authorizes the Chief of Police and the Executive
Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services to execute a grant award
agreement with Orange County Track.
