A P~ESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 82-110 TO ADD
CERTAIN NEW CLASSIFICATIONS TO CLASSIFY AND
COMPENSATE NEW POSITIONS AUTHORIZED IN THE 1984-
85 ANNUAL BUDGET
WHEREAS, on August 2, 1982, the City Council passed and adopted
Resolution No. 82-110 revising and re-establishing the basic Classification and
Compensation Plan for Officers and employees of the City of Santa Ana; and
WHEREAS, Section 1004, Article X of the City Charter of the City of
Santa Ana requires the City Manager to prepare, install and maintain a position
classification and pay plan subject to civil service rules and regulations and
the approval of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, on May 14, 1984 the City Council approved an administrative
reorganization plan proposed by the City Manager; and
WHEREAS, with the adoption of the 1984-85 Annual Budget, City Council
approved the addition of new positions throughout the City organization, includ-
ing a number of such positions which, due to significantly different duty,
responsibility and qualification requirements, cannot be allocated to existing
classes found in the City's Basic Classification and Compensation Plan (Resolution
NO. 82-110, as amended); and
WHEREAS, it is now desired to add several new class titles, together
with appropriate salary rate ranges, to the City's Basic Classification and
Compensation Plan; designate three such new classes as unrepresented Middle-
Management (MM); remove the middle-management designation from one existing
class; and add an assignment pay differential designation to an existing class
title.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA:
1. That Section 3 of Resolution No. 82-110, as amended, is hereby further
amended by:
a. Adding in proper alphabetical sequence, the following class titles
at the salary rate ranges next thereto set out in accordance with the current
two-year salary adjustment schedules in effect for the several represented and
unrepresented classes of employment in the City:

b. Designating the above new classes of Deputy Director of Finance,
Deputy Fire Chief, and Intergovernmental Relations Manager as unrepresented
Middle-Management (MM).
c. Deleting the designation of unrepresented Middle-Management (MM)
from the class of Senior Real Estate Officer and reassigning the class from the
three-step management salary rate range of M554 ($3113-$3432) to the comparable
five-step non-management salary rate range of 534 ($2824-$3432).
2. That Section 3.1, Special Compensation Provisions, is hereby amended
by adding the following assignment pay differential designation to the list of
such designation in Section 3.1:
(r)
An incumbent in the class of Fire Services
Dispatcher who, at the discretion of the
appointing authority, is regularly and
continuously assigned to serve in a lead
supervisory capacity over a departmental
unit of Fire Services Dispatchers, will
be paid an additional twenty (20) salary
rate ranges (10%) above his or her then
current base monthly salary step.
3. That this Resolution shall be operative from and after September 1,
1984.
