RESOLUTION NO. 86-22
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF S~ANTA ANA REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF ORANGE COUNTY TO CONSOLIDATE A SPECIAL
MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA WITH
THE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD JUNE 3, 1986
.WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana
intends to call a special election in the City of Santa Ana
on June 3, 1986 for the purpose of submitting to the qualified
voters of the City a certain proposed amendment to the City
Charter; and
WHEREAS, there will be a statewide general election held
on June 3, 1986; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable that said special election of
the City of Santa Ana be consolidated with the statewide
general election to be held on the same date and that within
the City of Santa Ana the precincts, polling places and
election officers be the same, and that the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Orange canvass the returns of the special
municipal election, in all respects as if there were only one
election;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Santa Ana:
SECTION 1: That pursuant to the requirements of Section
23302 of the Elections Code of the State of California, the
Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange is hereby
requested to consent to and order the consolidation with the
general election of June 3, 1986, of a special election of
the City of Santa Ana to be held upon the same date for the
purpose of submitting to the electors of the City of Santa
Ana a certain prgposit%on to appear on the ballot as follows:

Shall Sections 400, 401.1 and 404 of the
Charter be amended to provide for election
of 7 councilmembers by ward, and an office
of mayor be added to be elected at large,
with a vote only in case of tie and with
veto power subject to 2/3 override, elections
for all to occur in November, 19867

SECTION 2: Said Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized
to canvass the returns of said special municipal election pursuant
to Section 23306 of the Elections Code of the State of California.
SECTION 3: The City of Santa Ana recognizes that additional
costs will be incurred by the County by reason of this consolidation
and agrees to reimburse the County for any such costs.
SECTION 4: The Clerk of the CoUncil is hereby directed to
file a certified copy of this resolution with the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Orange and a certified copy of this
resolution with the Registrar of Voters of the County of Orange.
