A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
ANA AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO
THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE REQUESTING
DESIGNATION AS A MINORITY BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AGENCY
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana is eligible to apply to the
United States Department of Commerce for designation as a Minority
Business Development Agency; and
WHEREAS, the advantages to be received from receiving
designation and official operating authority as a Minority Business
Development Agency will enhance economic development in the City,
including the development of new jobs and an expanded tax base
through private capital investment; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Santa Ana to receive
designation as a Minority Business Development Agency to provide
management and business development assistance to minority-owned
small business ventures;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to apply to the
United States Department of Commerce on behalf of the City of Santa
Ana, California for designation and official operating authority as
a Minority Business Development Agency.
2. That the City Manager is further directed to execute and
such application together with all certifications, assurances,
documents and information required in connection therewith.
