A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
ESTABLISHING UNDERGROUND UTILITY DISTRICT NO. 24
WHEREAS, by Minute Order dated October 6, 1986, a public
hearing was called for November 17, 1986 at the hour of 7:30
p.m., at the Council Chambers of the City Hall, 22 Civic Center
Plaza, Santa Ana, California, to ascertain whether the public
necessity, health, safety, or welfare required the removal of
poles, overhead wires and associated overhead structures, and the
underground installation of wires and facilities for supplying
electrical communication or similar or associated service, for
the formation of the Underground Utility District No. 24 within
that certain area of the City described as follows:
Said certain area being bounded northerly by a line 80
feet north of centerline of Santa Ana Boulevard, bounded
easterly by the west line of the Atchison, Topeka and
Santa Fe Railroad, bounded southerly by the south line
of Fruit Street, and westerly by centerline of Santiago
Avenue, as shown on the attached Exhibit "A."
WHEREAS, notice of such hearing has been given to all
affected property owners as such are shown on the last equalized
assessment roll and to all utilities concerned in the manner and
within the time required by law; and
WHEREAS, such hearing has been duly and regularly held,
and all persons interested have been given an opportunity to be
heard;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Santa Ana:
1. That pursuant to Santa Ana Municipal Code Sections
37-1 to 37-13, the above-described area is hereby declared an
Underground Utility District and is designated as Underground
Utility District No. 24 of the City of Santa Aha. Attached
hereto, marked Exhibit "A", and hereby incorporated as a part of
this Resolution, is a map delineating the boundaries of said Dis-
trict.
2. That the City Council does hereby fix June 1, 1987
as the date on which affected property owners must be ready to
receive underground service, and does hereby order the removal of
all poles, owerhead wires and associated overhead structures and
the underground installation of wires and facilities for supply-
ing electric, communication, or similar or associated service
within Underground Utility District No. 24 on or before February
1, 1988.

3. That the Clerk of the Council is hereby instructed
to notify all affected utilities and all affected property owners
within Underground Utility District No. 24 of the adoption of
this Resolution within ten (10) days after the date of such adop-
tion. Such notification shall be made by mailing a copy of this
Resolution, together with a copy of said Santa Aha Municipal Code
Sections 37-1 to 37-13 to all affected property owners as such
are shown on the last equalized assessment roll and to the
affected utilities.
4. That the City Council of the City of Santa Ana
hereby finds and determines as follows, upon the basis of the
evidence presented at said hearing; that the public necessity,
health, safety and welfare require the removal of poles, overhead
wires and associated overhead structures within said area of the
City, and the underground installation of wires and facilities
for supplying electric, communication, and similar or associated
services, so as to eliminate hazards caused by fallen lines and
poles and to improve visibility of pedestrian traffic to vehicle
drivers.
