A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA ANA SUPPORTING THE
TALENT SEARCH PROJECT OF THE LEAGUE
OF UNITED LATIN AMERICAN CITIZENS

WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana co~m~ends the League of United
Latin American Citizens (LULAC) for actively pursuing a Talent
Search Project within the Santa Ana Unified School District, and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Talent Search is to assist pro-
spective low-income and first generation college
students, largely from Santa Ana, to enroll in post-secondary
institutions in California, and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana encourages the expansion of
opportunity for promising higher education experiences for numer-
ous secondary students, and
WHEREAS, LULAC has demonstrated an extensive history of com-
munity involvement and interest in education, and
WHEREAS, LULAC has established and sponsored successful edu-
cation programs,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS:
That on behalf of the City Council of the City of Santa Ana,
California, with great pride, I, Mayor Daniel Griset, do hereby
affirm the need for the LULAC Talent Search Project, support its
principles, and highly recom~nend that the United States Depart-
ment of Education fund this worthy project.
