A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA ANA ESTABLISHING
THE WASHINGTON SQUARE PERMIT PARKING
DISTRICT
WHEREAS, pursuant to Article XI (commencing with Section
36-480) of Chapter 36 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code, the City
Council of the City of Santa Ana is authorized to adopt a resolution
establishing Permit Parking Districts wherein parking restrictions
apply to all vehicles except vehicles which have been issued
parking permits pursuant to said Article; and
WHEREAS, this Council finds and determines that the
Washington Square residential neighborhood is in need of a Permit
Parking District in order to protect its integrity against the
intrusion of vehicular parking incidental to commercial and
governmental activities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS:
1. The Washington Square Permit Parking District is
hereby established, to consist of that area of the City of Santa
Ana bounded on the north by Seventeenth Street, on the east by
Flower Street, on the south by Civic Center Drive and on the west
by Bristol Street. Said district does not extend to or include
said perimeter streets.
2. The parking restrictions imposed pursuant to said
Article XI and this Resolution shall apply to any block within
the Washington Square Permit Parking District only after a
petition signed by the owners of seventy-five percent (75%) or
more of the residential lots abutting such block have filed a
petition with the Executive Director of Public Works expressing
their desire for such parking restrictions, and after signs
indicating the parking restrictions on such block have been
erected in accordance with said Article XI.
3. No person shall park any vehicle between the hours
of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on any portion of any street within
the Washington Square Permit District as to which signs have been
erected indicating the application of permit parking restrictions,
except persons and vehicles exempted from such parking restrictions
pursuant to said Article XI.

4. Permit parking restrictions in the Washington
Square Permit Parking District shall no% apply to the side of
any street adjacent to any non-residential use.
5. Employees at the Wilson Elementary School shall
be issued parking permits at such time and to the extent that
the Executive Director of Public Works determines that permit
parking restrictions in the vicinity of said school create un-
reasonable difficulties for said employees.
6. This Resolution shall not be effective until
the Ordinance of the City of Santa Ana adding Article XI to
Chapter 36 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code is effective.
7. The Washington Square Permit Parking District
established by this Resolution shall terminate on January 7,
1989 unless extended by resolution of the City Council. Upon
such termination the Executive Director of Public Works shall
cause the removal of all signs within said district imposing
permit parking restrictions.
