RESOLUTION NO. 87- ~
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA ANA INITIATING
PROCEEDINGS FOR THE FORMATION OF
THE CITY OF SANTA ANA LANDSCAPING
AND LIGHTING MAINTENANCE BENEFIT
DISTRICT PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS
OF THE LANDSCAPING AND LIGHTING ACT
OF 1972
WHEREAS, in order to continue to provide for the
expenses of installing, constructing, maintaining and servicing
lighting along streets and other public places through the City,
and
WHEREAS, in order to continue to provide for the
expenses of installing, constructing, maintaining and servicing
landscaping along streets and other places throughout the
City, it is necessary to form a landscaping and lighting
maintenance benefit district encompassing the entire City
pursuant to the Landscaping and Lighting Act of 1972.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Santa
Ana hereby initiates proceedings for and proposes the formation
of the City of Santa Ana Landscaping and Lighting Benefit
District for the installation, construction, maintenance and
servicing of all public street lighting and landscaping along
the streets and public places within the City, and to levy
and collect special assessments to pay the costs and incidental
expenses thereof, all pursuant to the provisions of the
Landscaping and Lighting Act of 1972 (Streets and Highways
Code Section 22500 et seq.).
SECTION 2. The proposed District would encompass
the entire City and be coterminous with the present boundaries
of the City, excepting from the assessment of said costs and
expenses the area of all public courts, public alleys, all
public streets, easements and rights-of-way, all public parks,
green belts and parkways and all other public property used
for public purposes, but would include all railroad, gas or
electric utility right-of-way or electric line right-of-way.
SECTION 3. The proposed District will be desig-
nated the "City of Santa Ana Landscaping and Lighting Main-
tenance Benefit District."

SECTION 4. The City Engineer of the City of
Santa Ana, is hereby directed to prepare and file a report
in accordance with Streets and Highways Code Section 22565
et seq.
