A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA DESIGNATING A
CERTAIN BUILDING AS HISTORICAL PROPERTY
FOR INCLUSION IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
REGISTER OF HISTORICAL PROPERTY
W/~EREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana has
provided, in Chapter 30 of the Santa Aha Municipal Code for the
maintenance of the City of Santa Aha Register of Historical
PrOperty, to include such property as the City Council
determines to have architectural or historical significance in
accordance with the standards set forth in Section 30-2 of the
said Code; and
WHEREAS, designation of property as Historical Property
promotes rehabilitation by allowing the application of the State
Historical Building Code and, as to property within a historical
rehabilitation are, by giving eligibility for historical
rehabilitation financing; and
WHEREAS, the property set forth hereinafter has been
recommended for designation as Historical Property by the
Housing Advisory Commission;
1. The following building is found to meet the standards
for designation as historical property set forth in Section 30-2
of the Santa Aha Municipal Code and is hereby designated as
Historical Property, to be included in the City of Santa Aha
Register of Historical Property:

2. For the abovesaid property, the report entitled
"Historical Property Description", on file in the office of the
Clerk of the council, is hereby approved and adopted as the
findings justifying designation as Historical Property. The
Clerk of the Council is authorized and directed to include such
report, together with this resolution, in the city of Santa Aha
Register of Historical Property.

Large, horizontally layed Craftsman influenced house. Featuring
such architectural details as; second story French doors, large
pillars, carved dentils, and triangular bracket supports. A
balcony forms the porch overhang and provides for a wrap around
porch. The mo~t unique feature is the port-co-chere, one of the
few remaining on the city of such grand dimensions.
A Craftsman influenced carriage house compliments.the main house.

The 1895 Sanborn Maps show that a 'different ho~se than the one
currently existing was on this site. The first house was the
home of Prof. T.N. Wells. In 1911-1912 the.current house was
built by Phrandra A. Robinson. Born in St. Lawrence County,
New York on August 21, ,.851, Phrandra Robinson married Ida Lusk,
e native of Wisconsin. They had three children. In 1906 he came
to California first settling in Berkeley, then fqur years later
moving to santa Aha. An article written in i921 credits him with
erecting over fifty of the most desirable houses in the city.
Hr. Robinson lived at the East Washington Avenue house 'until
1938, when he was listed as a rancher at RD 1, Box 88 Orange.
