RESOLUTION NO. 87-~
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA SUPPORTING
THE FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF
THE ORANGE COUNTY TRANSPORTATION
"SUPER" COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, Orange County's quality of life is seriously
challenged by growing traffic congestion; and
WHEREAS, in the Spring of 1987 the Orange County
Division, League of California Cities created Transportation
"Super" Committee composed of 15 City Council members and 10
City Managers for the purpose of finding a way to resolve
our transportation problems; and
WHEREAS, the Transportation "Super" Committee worked
for 5 months to identify the problems and solutions and identi-
fied available financing mechanisms to fund those solutions; and
WHEREAS, the Transportation "Super" Committee has
identified that there are solutions and identified steps to
expand Orange County's roadway capacities to meet current
demands and recommends strong transportation planning measures
to assure Orange County's transportation crisis does not
reoccur; and
WHEREAS, the 26 cities and county have worked with
the Transportation "Super" Committee to come up with this plan
to meet current transportation needs in Orange County; and
WHEREAS, the Transportation "Super" Committee pre-
sented their findings and recommendations in the report "Orange
County Transportation: Meeting the Challenge Head-On."
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Santa Ana that the Transportation "Super" Com-
mittee's findings and recommendations as presented in the report
"Orange County Transportation: Meeting the Challenge Head-On"
be supported for approval and full implementation at the
