RESOLUTION NO. 88-69
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
IN COOPERATION WITH THE SANTA ANA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
TO PROTEST THE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS' DECISION
REGARDING THE SALE OF PROPERTY
LOCATED AT GRAND AND MCFADDEN
WHEREAS, the Santa Ana Unified School District has
been negotiating with the County of Orange to purchase property
at the County Operations Center complex at Grand and McFadden
in Santa Ana; and
WHEREAS, this property was to be used to construct a
new elementary school for over 600 students who currently
attend neighboring schools which are gravely impacted; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors, at its September
13, 1988 meeting, voted 3-2 to deny the sale of the property to
the school district stating that the property must be reserved
as a bargaining chip for a future jail site in Santa Ana; and
WHEREAS, the children in our City will be held
hostage until the Board decides on a location for the new jail;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and
City Council of the City of Santa Ana, in cooperation with the
Santa Ana Unified $chool District, protest the Board of
Supervisors' decision, and urge the Board to reverse its
decision and continue with the proposed offer and agreement at
said property.
