A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
AUTHORIZING USE OF RECLAIMED
FOR LANDSCAPE IRRIGATION
WHEREAS the City of Santa Ana has entered into an AGreement
entitled 'Green Acres Reclamation Project Joint Participation AGreement for
Develo~nent and Utilization of Reclaimed Water Between the Metropolitan Water
District of Southern California, Coastal Municipal Water District, Municipal
Water District of Orarge County, City of Santa Ana and Orange County Water
District' for the purpose of prc~oting water conservation through
participation in and support of construction and modification of a
distribution system for reclaimed water within Orange County, to be known as
the Green Acres Project.
~IEREAS the City of Santa Ana has entered into a separate and
distinct Agreement entitled 'Agreement Between Orange County Water District
and City of Santa Ana Regarding Distribution and Sale of Green Acres Project
Water' which Agreement requires the City of Santa Ana to contract with
landscape irrigation and industrial water users within its boundaries for
purchase of reclaimed water from the Green Acres Project, and/or to cc~mit to
purchase water for its own use.
~ the City of Santa Ana is responsible for irrigating
(watering) landscape in its parks and other green areas, and is therefore,
itself, a landscape irrigation user.
~ the City of Santa Ana desires to cc~nit to purchase
reclaimed water frc~ the Green Acres Project to irrigate Centennial Park and
Thornton Park.
NOW 7/~EREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Santa Ana as follows:
1. The City of Santa Ana hereby cc~,m,its to purchase reclaimed
water frc~n the Green Acres Project for irrigation of Centennial Park and
Thornton Park.
2. The City of Santa Ana shall prc~ote connection to and use of
water from the Green Acres Project by all landscape irrigation and industrial
users within the boundaries of the City of Santa Ana whenever feasible.

3. The City Clerk is authorized and directed to transmit copies
of this resolution to the Orange County Water District.
