HomeMy WebLinkAbout90-026RESOLUTION NO. 90-026 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 82-110 TO ADD THE CLASS TITLE OF POLICE INFORMATION OFFICER AND CHANGE TWO EXISTING CLASS TITLES WHEREAS, Section 1004, Article X of the City Charter of the city of Santa Ana requires the City Manager to prepare, install and maintain a position classification and pay plan subject to civil service rules and regulations and the approval of the City Council; and WHEREAS, on August 2, 1982 the City Council passed and adopted Resolution No. 82-110 revising and reestablishing the Basic Classification and Compensation Plan for Officers and Employees of the City of Santa Ana; and WHEREAS, a classification and compensation study requested by the Police Department and conducted by the Personnel Services Department recommends the title of Police Information officer be established at a market-competitive pay level commensurate with the specialized, professional level duties performed; and WHEREAS, under State of California Business and Professions Code Section 6732, certain specific class titles in the engineering field are reserved exclusively for personnel registered as professional engineers; and WHEREAS, it is now desired to add the new classification of Police Information Officer at an appropriate pay range and change two existing class titles in the engineering series. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA: 1. That Section 3 of Resolution 82-110, as amended, is hereby further amended by: a. Adding, in proper alphabetical sequence, the new classification of POLICE INFORMATION OFFICER at Salary Rate Range No. 509, $2500-3040 per month. b. Designating as "terminal" the assignment designation of "Media Relations officer" for the class of Police Service Officer by adding the parenthetical identifier "(T)" so that the assignment will be automatically deleted from the basic classification and compensation plan upon being vacated by its last remaining incumbent. c. Changing the existing class titles of Assistant Traffic Engineer and Associate Traffic Engineer to Assistant Engineer-Traffic and Associate Engineer-Traffic, respectively, at no change in existing salary levels. 3'69 3 '7 2. That except as amended by this Resolution, all other provisions of Resolution No. 82-110 shall remain in full force and effect. 3.
