HomeMy WebLinkAbout90-041RESOLUTION 90-041 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 82-110 TO ADD TWO SPECIAL COMPENSATION PROVISIONS WHEREAS, Section 1004, Article X of the City Charter of the City of Santa Aha requires the City Manager to prepare, install and maintain a position classification and pay plan subject to civil service rules and regulations and the approval of the City Council; and WHEREAS, on August 2, 1982, the City Council passed and adopted Resolution No. 82-110 revising and re-establishing the Basic Classification and Compensation Plan for officers and employees of the City of Santa Ana; and WHEREAS, the Executive Director of Finance and Management Services has identified the need for special assignment pay differential for a single incumbent of certain classes in the Fleet Services Division, to provide pay levels commensurate with assigned duties and responsibilities in the coordination of technical training for Division employees; and WHEREAS, the Executive Director of Finance and Management Services has further identified the need for special assignment pay differential for personnel in the class of Fleet Equipment Technician II who maintain a State of California Unlimited Smog Check Mechanic License and who perform City vehicle emissions testing and certification; and WHEREAS, it is now desired to amend the City's Basic Classification and Compensation Plan in order to add two new special assignment pay provisions to provide pay levels commensurate with assigned duties and responsibilities. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA: 1. That Section 3.1 of Resolution 82-110, as amended, is hereby further amended by adding the following assignment pay designations "w" and "x" to the existing list of special compensation provisions: a. "(w) An incumbent of either the single position class of Fleet Parts Supervisor, or the single position class of Fleet Equipment Supervisor, who is regularly and continuously assigned to and is performing duties in a technical training coordinator capacity for the Fleet Services Division, shall be paid an amount equal to the product obtained by multiplying the base monthly salary rate being paid to an employee in the class of Fleet Parts Supervisor, Step "C," by five percent (5%) (ten (10) salary rate ranges). This differential shall be paid to such an employee irrespective of his or her particular class or step within assigned salary rate range." o4. O~E~)LUTION NO. 90-041 PAGE TWO b. "(x) Incumbents in the class of Fleet Equipment Technician II who maintain a valid State of California 'Unlimited Smog Check Mechanic License,' and who perform City vehicle emissions testing and certification activities, shall be paid a pay differential in an amount equal to the product obtained by multiplying the base monthly salary rate then being paid to an employee in the class of Fleet EquiDment Technician II, Step "C," by two and one-half percent (2.5%) (five (5) salary rate ranges). This differential shall be paid to such employees irrespective of his or her step within the Fleet Equipment Technician II salary rate range." 2. That except as amended by this Resolution, all other provisions of Resolution No. 82-110 shall remain force and effect. in full 3. That this Resolution shall be operative from and after April 16, 1990. ADOPTED this 16th day of April , 1990.
