HomeMy WebLinkAbout90-108REL:mb 11/20/90 RESOLUTION NO. 90-]08 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON NOVEMBER 6, 1990. WHEREAS, pursuant to the Charter of the City of Santa Ana, a general municipal election was held in the City of Santa Ana on November 6, 1990 to fill the office of Mayor of said city and the offices of members of the City Council of said City nominated from Wards 2, 4 and 6 of said city; and WHEREAS, in addition, pursuant to Ordinance No. NS-2074 and Resolution No. 90-077 of the City Council of the City of Santa Ana, the following ballot measures were submitted to the voters of the City of said election: Measure AA Shall Section 411 of the Charter be amended to clarify that any member of the City Council may place items on the city Council Agenda? Measure BB Shall Section 421 of the Charter be amended to increase the limit on City contracts which may be approved by the City Manager from $10,000 to $15,000, with the contract limit to be increased annually by a cost of living adjustment? Measure CC Shall Section 424 be added to the Charter to require the City Council to appoint a Charter review committee after each federal census? Measure DD Shall Section 614 of the Charter be amended to allow for a period longer than 90 days for the filing of claims against the city when a longer period is provided by State law? Measure EE Shall Sections 501 and 700 of the Charter be amended to require city Council approval for the appointments of City officers and depart- ment heads by the City Manager? Measure FF Shall Section 702 of the Charter be amended to remove a requirement that the Clerk of the Council attach certificates to ordinances and resolutions? RESOLUTION 90-108 03S PAGE Two Measure GG Shall Section 705 be added to the Charter to require the City Council to review annually the performance of the city Manager, the City Attorney, and the Clerk of the Council? Measure HH Shall Section 1107 of the Charter be amended to change the limit on permissible gifts to City officers and employees from $25.00 to an amount set by State law? Measure II Shall Section 1501 of the Charter be amended to conform the punishment for violations of the Charter to the punishment established for misdemeanors under State law? Measure JJ Shall Section 701 of the Charter be amended to require the same number of votes to remove the Clerk of the Council as required for removal of the City Manager and City Attorney? NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: 1. That the results of the said election, including the whole number of votes cast in the City, the names of the persons voted for, the measures voted upon, for what office each person was voted for, and the number of votes given in the city to each person and for and against each measure, are set forth in that certain document attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by this reference as though fully set forth. 2. That, based upon said results, DANIEL H. YOUNG is declared elected to the office of Mayor of the City of Santa Ana for a two-year term. 3. That, based upon said results, the following persons are declared elected to the following respective offices, for four-year terms: ROBERT L. RICHARDSON, Member of the City Council of the City of Santa Ana from Ward 2. MIGUEL A. PULIDO, Member of the City Council of the City of Santa Ana from Ward 4. RICHARDS L. NORTON, Member of the City Council of the city of Santa Ana from Ward 6. 4. That the votes of a majority of all the voters voting at said election on Measures AA, DD, EE, GG,II, and JJ were cast in favor of said ballot measures, and said ballot measures are hereby declared to have been approved. That the votes of a majority of all the voters voting at said election on Measures BB, CC, FF and HH were cast against said ballot measures, and said ballot measures are hereby declared to have been disapproved. ADOPTED this 26th day of November, 1990.
