HomeMy WebLinkAbout91-019RESOLUTION NO. 91-019 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA REGARDING THE SUPPORT FOR A 1/2 CENT SALES TAX INCREASE FOR JUSTICE FACILITIES. WHEREAS, the quality of is in jeopardy due to the lack of county jails; life for residents in Santa Aha sufficient jail capacity at our WHEREAS, the Sheriff is releasing over $0,000 prisoners a year into our neighborhoods; WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has selected Coal-Gypsum Canyon as the site for the new county jail facility; WHEREAS, the State to put a 1/2 cent sales tax operation of County justice legislature has authorized the County increase for the construction and facilities on the ballot; WHEREAS, a special election will be held in the County on May 14, 1991; WHEREAS, the passage of a 1/2 cent sales tax would provide the County with replacement revenue in order to repeal the implementation of the booking fees. NOW TItEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY O'F SANTA ANA express its support for placing the 1/2 cent sales tax increase on the May 14, 1991 ballot in order to expedite the construction and operation of a new County jail facility at Coal-Gypsum Canyon.
