A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA APPROVING NEGATIVE DECLARATIONS
AND ADOPTING THE CITY'S SOURCE REDUCTION AND
RECYCLING ELEMENT AND HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS
WASTE ELEMENT.
WHEREAS, the California Integrated Waste Management Act
requires the City to prepare and adopt a Source Reduction and
Recycling Element (SRRE) and a Household Hazardous Waste Element
(HHWE); and
WHEREAS, the City's SRRE specifies the means by which the City
will divert 25% of the solid waste generated within the City
through source reduction, recycling and composting by January 1,
1995 and 50% by January 1, 2000;
WHEREAS, the City's HHWE specifies the means by which the City
will safely collect, recycle, treat and dispose of household
hazardous waste generated by households in the City;
WHEREAS, the City Council held a duly noticed public hearing
on October 21, 1991 to receive testimony regarding the preliminary
draft of the SRRE and the HHWE;
WHEREAS, the City Council held a duly noticed public hearing
on June 1, 1992 for the purpose of adopting the SRRE and HHWE;
WHEREAS, an Initial Study was prepared, pursuant to the
California Environmental Quality Act guidelines, which concluded
that all reasonably foreseeable environmental impacts were
mitigated by measures contained in the SRRE and HHWE;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA that the final draft SRRE and HHWE are hereby adopted
by the City of Santa Ana.
ADOPTED this 1st day of June, 1992.
