HomeMy WebLinkAbout93-071 - Condemnation of Violence throughout OrangeRELmvb: 7/27/93 RESOLUTION NO. 93- 071 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA EXPRESSING CONDEMNATION OF VIOLENCE AND ENCOURAGING UNDERSTANDING, AWARENESS AND TOLERANCE THROUGHOUT ORANGE COUNTY. WHEREAS, last year, over 150 hate-related incidents were documented in Orange County; and WHEREAS, hate and violence have occurred in neighborhoods, places of worship, schools and the work place; and .WHEREAS, we stand united as a City of civilized people in condemning acts of ignorance and senseless violence; and WHEREAS, in Orange County a hate crime network among all law enforcement and hate crime victim groups has been formed to increase our awareness of crimes motivated by race, religion, sexual orientation or gender; and W~EREAS, the City of Santa Ana established a Human Relations Commission, which serves as a forum for the presentation of information regarding improving the human environment within the city of Santa Ana; and WHEREAS, the commission also serves as a Mediation Board for resident disputes; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana considers all human life to be valuable; and 0 0 0 0 098 RESOLUTION 93-071 Page 2 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA expresses condemnation of violence and encourages understanding, awareness and tolerance throughout Orange County.
