January21, 1963
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. Roll call was answered by
Councilmen Hubbard, Schlueter, Gilmore, Brewer, and Mayor Hall. Following
the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, the Invocation was delivered by the
Reverend Glenn McFarland, Reformed Presbyterian Church.
MINUTES APPROVAL On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded
by Councilman Schlueter, and unanimously
carried, the City Council approved the
minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 7, 196B.
BID AWARD - MOTORCYCLF~ On motion of Councilman Brewer,
seconded by Councilman Hubbard and
unanimously carried, Council received
and ordered filed a bid received from Harley-Davidson Co., only bidder for
two motorcycles (Police Special) and approved award of the contract to Harley-
Davidson Company in the amount of $3,064.24, with trade-in.
BID AWARD - WALEER On motion of Councilman Brewer, seconded

tabulation of bids received for demoli-
tion of the Walker Theater building; approved award of the contract to
Walter E. Hesse in the amount of $8,300.00; and rejected all other bids.
PAINT STRIPING MACHINE On motion of Counc~]m-u Hubbard, seconded
by Councilman Schlueter and carried,
Council received and ordered filed a
tabulation of bids received for the fur-
nishing of a paint striping machine and postponed award of contract to the
meeting of February 4, 1963, on recom~__endation of the City Manager.
SALE OF REAL PROPERTY The Clerk notified the City Council that
this was the time and place fixed for the
opening of bids for the sale of property
held for parking lot purposes on the
south side of Sixth Street, between Bush and Spurgeon Streets and that proper
notice of the sale was given. The Clerk reported that one bid had been re-
ceived and publicly opened and read aloud the bid from the Pacific Telephone
and Telegraph Company in the amount of $160,000. A certified check for
$~0,000. was then submitted by a representative of the company as deposit.
The Mayor thereupon called for oral bids from the audience. There being no
further bids, it was moved by COUnc~lm-u Hubbard, seconded by Counc~lm~-
Schlueter that the bid from the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company in
the amount of $160,000, be accepted. On roll call vote:

APPEAL 79 79 filed by Billy W. Robinson from the
Zoning Administrator' s denial of V. A.
1715 to permit less than required side
yard setback for a garage addition on R-1 property at 1515 N. King Street.
The Clerk reported that evidence of giving proper notice of the hearing was
on file in the Clerk's Office an~ that no written protests or objections had
been received. Council heard testimony from the applicant an~ Mrs. Robinson,
and from Mrs. Fred Pimantal, 1509 N. King, w~o stated that she had no object-
ions to the variance application. ~aere being no further testimony the hear-

that the Council overrule the action of the Zoning Administrator an~ instruct
the City Attorney to prepare a resolution granting Variance No. 1715, subject
to any applicable conditions.

HEARING - ALLEY ABANDONM~IT,

Mayor Hall opened the hearing on Resolution
of Intention No. 62-238 to vacate an alley
~mning north from 19th Street, west of
Main Street. Council heard testimony from
Doris H. Steel, 1906 N. Main, who opposed the abandonment. Mr. Moriarity,
2035 Victoria Drive, representing Mm. Segerstrom, asked that the hearing be
continued.
On motion of Counbilm~n Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Schlueter and
carried, Council continued the hearing to February 4, 1963, 7:30 p.m.,
Santa Ama City Council Chamber.
HEARING - FAIRHAV~ & Mayor Nall opened the hearing on the

find and determine that the property described therein can have real value
only to the owner of adjoining property and could be used by other persons
only for the purpose of nuisance value to the adjoining land, and authorize
direct negotiations with the adjoining land owner.

It was moved by Councilm~u Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Gilmore and unani-
mously carried, that Council receive and order filed the Manager's report,
find and determine that the property described therein can have real value
only to the owner of adjoining property and could be used by other persons
only for the purpose of nuisance value to the adjoining land, and authorize
direct negotiations with the adjoining land owner.
MERIT SALARY INCREASES

Record of Survey map in December, 1959, filed by Charline Watson.
