On motion of Counc~lm=- Eabbard, seconded by CoBnc~lma~ Schlueter and carried, the City Council approved the minutes of the regular subject to correction on pa~e 60 from 8,173 BID AWARD - FIRST STR~sl' On motion of Councilm-n Hubbard, DEMOLITION seconded by Councilman Schlueter and carried, Council received and ordered filed a report of bids received for the demolition of buildings on the north side of First Street between Evergreen Street and the Pacific Electric Railroad; approved award of contract to Self Wrecking & Supply, Inc. in the amount of $3,737.00; and rejected a]l other bids. BID AWARD - VALVES On motion of Councilm~ Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Schlueter and carried, Council received and ordered filed a report of bide received for the furnishing of valve requir-ments for Fiscal Year 1963, Spec. No. 664-9; approved award of contract to Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Co. at unit prices as follows: 4" ~ $33.65, 6" ~ $50.55, 8" $ $78.16, 10" ~ $122.20, and 12" ~ $160.53; and rejected all other bids. Don Franklin, 2450 Riverside Drive, spoke on behalf of the applicants, requesting approval, citing the many apartments in the area and extensive usage other than single f-m~ly residences, the fact that the City Planaing staff is on record as favoring R 3 zoning in the area, ~ that no one actively opposed the rezoningo Sixteen persons in favor of the rezoning were present in the audience. There being no further response to the Mayor's e~ll for testimony, the hearing was closed. AD~O DEALERS LICENSE FEES Council heard a report from the City Manager regarding a meeting with new car dealers to discuss license fees. At the suggestion of Mayor Hall, the entire business license procedure and rates having to do with business volumes of over a million dollars per year will be investigated and a report made to the Council. . HONORARY ~w~BERSHIP Art Newcomb, President of the Santa Aha City Employees read a letter of commendation from the Association, and presented honorary memberships to each Councilm-n and the City Manager. ASSESSMENT DISTRICT 218 City Council On motion of Councilman Eubbard,i seconded by Councilman Schlueter and carried, Council approved pay- ment of $8,933.52 to Voorheis- Trindle-Nelson Co. for engineering services rendered regarding Assessment District 218. 66 - April 1, 1963 G~ERAL PLAN CONSULTANTS Council received Resolution No. 5608 from the Planning Commission recozmaending that contractual negotiations for the preparation of a General Plan be commenced with the Leo A. Daly cOmPany, "Arthur D. Little, Inc., D. Jackson Fauetmamu, Boyle Engineering, amd with Stone & Youngberg, and namtn~ alternate firms if negotiations are unsuccessful. 0n motion of Counc~lm,n Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Schlueter and carried, Council received and ordered filed Resolution No. 5608, and authorized the Planning Commission to proceed with negotiations. Counc~lm-n Hubbard complimented the sub-committee and staff for the excellent progress being made on the General Plan. PARKING REQUIREMENTS On motion of Councilm,n Hubbard, SEGERSTROM seconded by Councilm-n Brewer and carried, Council received a~d approved a recommendation from the Planning Commission for a six months waiver of off street parking requirements for facility at 10th and Main Streets.
