OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA
April 25, 1963
The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber, City
Hall, Santa Ana~ California. Roll call was answered by Councilman Hubbard~
Harvey, Gilmore, and Mayor Hall. Councilman Schlueter was absent.
C~.RRK'S REPORT The Clerk reported that a Notice of
Special Meeting had been mailed to each
Councilman and to the press, and she
submitted a Certificate of Mailing.
On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Gilmore and carried,
Council received and ordered filed the Certificate of Mailing.
BID AWABD - Council heard a report of bids received
MUNICIPAL STADIUM for the construction of the Municipal
Stadium frc~ the City Manager, who also
reported that the low bidder, Boa
Corporation, had failed to enter all of the subcontractors as required
in the specifications, and had entered an erroneous figure for the electrical
subcontracting work. A letter from the Boa Corporation requesting permission
to withdraw their bid was received, ordered filed and approved on motion
of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Harvey and carried.
Council heard a statement by William Cook, Santa Ana City Schools~ that
although he was certain the Schools would be willing to contribute towards
the extra cost of having the stadium completed by October l, 1963, he was
not prepared to state the amount of the contribution. On motion of Council-
man Hubbard, seconded by Councilmau Gilmore, Council received and ordered
filed the City Manager's report, approved award of the contract to the
Gallegos Corporation under Proposal No. i in the amount of $744,576.00~
to be c~npleted October l, 1963, and rejected all other bids. On roll call
vote:

On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilmsa Gilmore and earried~
Council authorized a meeting with authorities to discuss school participation
in the extra cost of completing the stadium by October l, 1963.
BID AWABD Council received a tabulation of bids and
D~4OLITION- heard the Manager's report that the Fowler
FI~TH STREET Equipment Company, low bidder for the
demolition of buildings on Fifth Street,
did not have the required State Contractors License. On motion of Councilman
Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Harvey and carried~ the contract was awarded
to Self Wrecking and Supply Company in the amount of $22,875.00 and all
other bids were rejected.
~i~ROPOLITAN On motion of Councilma~ Hubbard, seconded
STATUS by Councilman Gilmore and carried, Council
authorized the Mayor to attend, with
expenses paid bythe City, the conference
in Washington, D.C. on April 29, 1963 regarding metropolitan status for
Orange County.
