As proposed, the project will not result in any changes to subsurface geological features. The site had previously been graded as part of the construction of a large multi-family apartment project. The nature of the project will not create unstable earth conditions. Mitigation Measures/Monitoring Require4: None required. DJ As proposed, the project will involve excavation and compaction of soils for the construction of the residences. Impacts related to the displacement of soil will occur on-site. Implementation of the following mitigation measures will mitigate impacts to a level of insignificance. Mitigation Measures/Monitoring Required: me Prior to the approval of future grading permits, grading shall be conducted in accordance with plans prepared by a civil Engineer and based on recommendations of a soil engineer. Permanent reproducible copies of the "Approved as Built" grading plans on standard size sheets shall be furnished to the Building Department. Prior to the approval of final grading permits, additional studies shall be done to determine native elevations and evaluate the extent of compressibility of the soils for structural design purposes. 169 ENVIRONMENTAL EVALUATION ER # 98-047 PROJECT TITLE: BROCK HOMES 72 UNIT SUBDIVISION PROJECT ADDRESS: 2828 NORTH BRISTOL STREET June 8, 1998 PAGE 2 Ce The topography of the project area as well as the surrounding areas is relatively flat. Changes will occur with excavation and fill activities for the construction of building pads. Potential impacts will be mitigated to a level of insignificance through implementation of Mitigation Measure No. 1. Mitigation Measures/Monitoring Mitigation Measure No. 1. Required: Same as Although the project site is adjacent to the Santa Ana River, no changes will occur to the river bed or banks. No project specific impacts are anticipated· Mitigation Measures/Monitoring Required: None required. During construction of the project, wind and water erosion of soils on the site will increase. This is a short-term impact occurring only during the construction phase of the project. Construction related erosion can be mitigated to a level of insignificance through the implementation of the following mitigation measures: Mitigation Measures/Monitoring Required: During construction, prompt re-vegetation of slopes and landscaped areas shall be implemented. Possible water erosion during construction shall be mitigated by the installation of temporary erosion control devices. Utilization of desiltation devices such as sandbags or temporary basins in areas that may discharge into City streets shall be implemented prior to the commencement of grading activities. 170 ENVIRONMENTAL EVALUATION ER # 98-047 PROJECT TITLE: BROCK HOMES 72 UNIT SUBDIVISION PROJECT ADDRESS: 2828 NORTH BRISTOL STREET June 8, 1998 PAGE 3 fe ge e Prior to the issuance of grading permits, the grading plan shall include a description of access points to the site and a watering and sweeping program designed to minimize impacts of haul operations. Construction-related erosion is not expected to modify river or stream channels or the bed of any bays, inlets, or lakes. The Santa Ana River has been extensively modified through the installation of concrete banks and river bed to serve as a flood control system. As a result, the proposed project will not alter the current configuration of the stream bed. Construction-related and long-term erosion can be mitigated to a level of insignificance. Mitigation Measures/Monitoring Mitigation Measures Nos. 3-6. Required: Same as The potential for earthquakes affects all of Southern California. There are no active faults on the project site.
