HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-22-1963MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR ~E~I'ING OF MAY 20, 1963 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA~ CALIFORNIA May 22, 1963 The meeting of the City Council, in Joint session with the City Planning Commission, was called to order at 7:10 p.m. Roll call was answered by Councilman Harvey, Gilmore, Schlueter and Mayor Hall. Councilman Hubbard was absent. Those present from the Planning Commission ware: Commissioners Jessee, Reilly, McMichael, Heine, Lewis, and Parks. Commissioner William B. Moore, Jr., was absent. NEW COMMISSIONER Mayor Hall introduced Commissioner Parks, appointed to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Malcolm Smith, who expressed his appreciation for the appointment. CLERK'S REPORT The Assistant Clerk reported that a copy of the Order of Adjournment of the Regular Meeting of May 20, 1963 had been posted as required by law and that the Certificate of Posting was on file in the Clerk's office. .?~GENERAL PLAN PREPARATION consultants. Mayor Hall submitted a letter from J. B. Hanauer & Co., which offered factual information regarding the company's qualifications as municipal financial On motion of Councilman Gilmore, seconded by Councilman Harvey and carried, the letter was received and ordered filed. Contract documents for consultant services in the preparation of a General Plan were submitted to the City Council. COMMISSIONERS' REPORT Commissioners Jessee and Reilly presented details of the methods used by which their sub-committee arrived at the selection of the most qualified consultants for preparing the General Plan. COMMUNICATION Hal Winter, Secretary to the Downtown DOWNTOWN SANTA ANA Santa Ana Association, presented a letter ASSOCIATION from Larry Coffin, Jr., President, endorsing the recommendation of the Planning Commission and urging its acceptance, and expressing the willingness of certain downtown merchants to pay a portion of the bill. On motion of Councilman Gilmore, seconded by Councilmau Harvey and carried, the letter was received and ordered filed. City Council - 113 - May 22, 1963 SUPPORTING STATEMENTS Each Commissioner expressed his agreement with the selection made. Statements supporting the Commissioners' choices were also made by the Planning Director and the City ~nager. POSTPONE~ENT On motion of Councilman GiLmore, seconded by CounciLman Schlueter and carried, Council took under advise- ment the proposed Agreement for Planning Consulting Services for the General Plan program and postponed until the meeting of June 3, 1963, any decision or award of contract. AD JOURNMEI,~T On motion of Councilman Schlueter~ seconded by Councilman Gilmore and carried, the meeting was adjourned at 9:20 p.m. DORIS M.
