A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA TO
AMEND RESOLUTION NOS. 82-110 AND 96-095 TO EFFECT CERTAIN CHANGES
TO THE CITY'S BASIC CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION PLANS, AND TO
AMEND THE CURRENT ANNUAL BUDGET TO ALLOCATE AND REALLOCATE
CERTAIN POSITIONS.
WHEREAS, Section 1004, Article X of the City Charter of the City of Santa/ma requires
the City Manager to prepare, install and maintain a position classification and pay plan subject to civil
service rules and regulations and the approval of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, on August 2, 1982, the City Council passed and adopted Resolution No. 82-110
revising and re-establishing the Basic Classification and Compensation Plan for all officers and
employees of the City of Santa Aha; and on November 18, 1996, passed and adopted Resolution No.
96-095, establishing the Basic Classification and Compensation Plan for unrepresented classes of
employment designated as Administrative Management; and
WHEREAS, on May 18, 1998, the City Council passed and adopted Ordinance No. NS-
2348, which establishes the City's Annual Budget authorizing position allocations for Fiscal Year
1998-99, and which sets forth the requirement that alterations in the allocations of authorized
positions be reviewed and approved by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, periodic review of the Basic Classification and Compensation Plans and the
findings fi.om various classification and compensation studies reveal the need to effect certain changes
to the Plans, and to allocate and reallocate certain positions; and
WHEREAS, it is now desired to amend Resolution Nos. 82-110 and 96-095, and the Fiscal
Year 1998-99 Annual Budget, in order to effect these changes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA:
1. That Section 3 of Resolution No. 82-110, as amended, is hereby further amended by:
a. deleting the vacant and now obsolete class title of Park Maintenance Worker I.
b. adding, in alphabetical sequence, the following classification title at the monthly
salary rate ranges/effective dates indicated:

to Revenue Supervisor, at no change in salary rate range.
e. providing equity salary adjustments to the following classifications assigned to
a 6-step salary rate range:

2. That Section 3 of Resolution No. 96-095, as amended, is hereby further amended by
changing the existing classification title of Community Preservation Coordinator (AM) to Community
Preservation Manager (AM), at no change in salary rate range.
3. That the Annual Budget for Fiscal Year 1998-99, as amended, is hereby further
amended by:
a. allocating one additional Deputy Clerk of the Council position at Salary Rate
Range No. 530, and one additional unaffiliated confidential Executive Secretary CCC) position at
Salary Rate Range No. 565.

4. That except as amended by this Resolution, all other provisions of Resolution
Nos. 82-110 and 96-095, and the Annual Budget for Fiscal Year 1998-99, shall remain in full
force and effect.
5. That this Resolution, unless otherwise indicated, shall be operative from and at, er
March 1, 1999.
