RESOLUTION NO. 2000-056
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR
GRANT FUNDS FROM THE URBAN PARK AND
RECREATION RECOVERY PROGRAM
WHEREAS, Congress, under Public Law 95-625 has authorized the
establishment of the Urban Park and Recreation Recovery Grant Program, providing
matching funds to economically distressed urban communities for rehabilitation of
critically needed recreation facilities; and
WHEREAS, the National Park Service is responsible for administration of the
program in, setting up necessary rules and procedures governing application by local
agencies under the program; and
WHEREAS, said procedures established by the National Park Service require
the applicant to certify, by resolution, the approval of application(s) and the availability of
local matching funds prior to submission of said applications to the state; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana has been determined eligible to apply for said
funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council for the City of
Santa Ana:
Approves the filing of an application(s) for Urban Park and Recreation
Recovery Program assistance in the amount of $87,550 for the Friendship
Park Rehabilitation Project; and
Certifies that sufficient matching local funds exist through the Parks
Acquisition and Development Fund; and
Certifies that, upon award of the grant, the City of Santa Ana, Parks,
Recreation and Community Services Agency is authorized to accept and
administer the grant; and
Certifies that the project is compatible with the land use plans of those
jurisdictions immediately surrounding the project; and
Appoints the City Manager or the Executive Director of the Parks,
Recreation and Community Services Agency as agent for the City of
Santa Ana to conduct all negotiations, execute and submit all documents,
including, but not limited to applications, agreements, amendments, and

payment requests which may be necessary for the completion of the
aforementioned project.
