RESOLUTION NO. 2000-082
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA DESIGNATING THE GRAND AVENUE
DESIGN DISTRICT
WHEREAS, there are a number of businesses located on South Grand Avenue in
the City of Santa Ana that are currently devoted to uses characterized by a sales of
materials and supplies for use in home improvement, interior design, rehabilitation and
residential improvements (hereafter collectively referred to as "design businesses"); and
WHEREAS, the promotion and advertising of these design businesses will benefA
the City of Santa Ana and these design businesses by attracting additional clients and
customers who are not aware of this concentration of design businesses on South Grand
Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the attraction of design businesses will increase the flow of customers
and clients to these existing design businesses and to the City of Santa Aha, increasing
sales tax revenue and improving the image of the City of Santa Ana; and
WHEREAS, the establishment of a Design District will contribute the identity of this
area, promote civic pride in existing and future design businesses and encourage the
rehabilitation and remodeling of existing design businesses in the area, thus improving
property values; and
WHEREAS, assistance to these design businesses in the form of City promotion
will be of benefit to them by increasing their visibility and exposure to new potential clients
and customers; and
WHEREAS, at its regular meeting of November 13, 2000, the Planning
Commission by resolution recommended that the City Council take this action;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS:
The City Council hereby designates that portion of South Grand Avenue in
the City of Santa Ana, as shown on the map attached hereto which is
incorporated herein by this reference, as the "Grand Avenue Design
District.'
