A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA APPROVING A REVISED TREE LIST FOR
THE CITY'S DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS
BK: 4/11/01
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS
FOLLOWS;
SECTION 1. The City Council hereby finds, determines and declares as follows:
From time to time, the City has adopted and revised design and
development standards to apply to new development within the City.
B. Typically, these design and development standards are adopted by
resolution, following the recommendation of the City's Planning Commission.
The City's Planning Commission has, after a full and complete review,
recommended that the City Council adopt revised design and development
standards relating to the name, type, height spread of trees to be planted in
streets, parks, residential developments, and under utility lines.
The proposed revised tree list consists of four separate categories: (1) a
general list; (2) palm trees; (3) limited or restricted use trees; and (4)
potential trees with limited availability.
The Council finds that the existing tree list is outdated and offers incomplete
information regarding trees that are suitable for use in proposed new
developments. In addition, some species of trees on the current list have
proved to pose potential problems that no longer make them desirable for
general use.
SECTION 2. The revised tree list attached hereto as Exhibit 1 is hereby approved
and adopted as part of the City's design and development standards, and shall be made
regularly available by the City's Planning and Building Agency.
ADOPTED this 16th day of April, 2001.
