RESOLUTION NO. 2002-001
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA TO APPROVE AND DESIGNATE THE CITY
ENGINEER OR HIS DESIGNEE AS THE AUTHORIZED
OFFICER OF THE CITY PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT
CODE SECTION 830.6(1).
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CI.TY OF SANTA ANA AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines and
declares as follows:
Government Code Section 830.6 (1) provides the City of Santa Ana with
design immunity for plans or designs for construction or improvement to
public property approved by the City Council or by another authorized
officer of the City exercising discretionary authori~ to approve such plans
or designs.
In an effort to streamline the review process, the City of Santa Ana desires
to designate an authorized officer with the requisite knowledge and
experience to approve all plans or designs for construction or
improvement to public property.
The City officer with the requisite knowledge and experience to approve
such plans or designs is hereinafter identified as the City Engineer.
Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes and
designates the City Engineer, or his designee, as the authorized officer of the City to
approve all plans or designs for construction or improvement to public property pursuant
to Government Code Section 830.6(1), as it may be amended from time to time.
Section 3. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby acknowledges
that this resolution is also intended as a ratification of approvals of plans and designs of
construction or improVement to public property by City engineering staff previously
made for projects'withir~ the City.
Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediate~ly upon its adoption by
the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting
this Resolution.
