TRAFFIC REQUEST Mrs. Betty Carrillo, 1131 W. Stanford,
President of Martin School PTA,
requested that a signal or portable
light he placed at the intersection
of Wilshire and Bristol because the crossing guard was having difficulty controlling
traffic. The matter was referred to the Manager for investigation and report.

Gene English, 419 E. 20th, stated that
the Planning Director has approved a lot
split at the northeast corner of McFadden
and Diamond, and the matter was scheduled
for Council action on October 19th. Because escrow closing on the 17th,
Mr. English requested that the map be approved at this meeting. On motion of
Counc~lm~n Hubbard, seconded by Counci]m~u Gilmore and carried, Council approved
Preliminary Record of Survey 376 filed by Shosuka Nitta to create two R 1
lots on the northeast corner of McFadden and Diamond, subject to all applicable
conditions and subject to approval of the City Manager for compliance with
any technical requirements of the Code.
MEDAL OF VALOR Police Sergeant Harold Hansen asked
Council to consider establishing a medal
of valor to be awarded to public safety
officials for outstanding heroic action,
and placed in nomination, as the first recipient, the name of Patrolman
Clifford Haydo.
On motion of CounciLman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Schlueter and carried,
Council referred the suggestion to the City Manager for report and recommendation.
NATIONAL FIRE Fire Chief John Garthe announced that the
P~ION WE~{ next five days will be Fire Prevention
Week, and introduced Fire Marshal Raymond
Bachtelle, who outlined the Fire
Department's current grade school program and invited the Council to attend
a children's parade October 10th to act as judges.
