The meeting was called to order at 7~30 porn. in the Council C~Bm~ers, City
Hall, 217 North Main Street. Roll call was answered by Councilmen Royal E.
Hubbard, Harry H. Harvey, James Gilmore, Henry N. Schlueter and Mayor A.
Allen Hall. Following the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, the Invocation
was delivered by the Reverend James Thomann, Spurgeon Methodist Church.

AMEND. APP. 520 Nearing was opened on Amendment Application
EL~ 520 filed by Virgil and Beatrice Elw~,~
proposing to amend Sectimaal District Map
23-5-10 by reclassifying fram the R 1 to
the P district, property on the north side of E~inger between Center and Raitt.
Planning Co, mission Resolution 5720 rec,mmended approval of Exhibit 520-B
w~ich would reclassia~y to the LP district o The Clerk reported that notice
of the hearing was published February 19, 1965 in The Register a~a that no
written communications had been filed.
Virgil F.~k~e, 221~ N. Halpert, requested approval of the application ~ basis
of the property frontage on an arterial street, the proximity of other commercial
uses, and the neighboring schools and churches to which other zones would be
detrimental. There bein~ no further testimony, the hearing was closed.
On motion of Councilman ~ubbar~, seconded by Councilman Schlueter and carried,
Council approved the reclassification and instructe~ the City Attorney to
prepare an amend~E ordinance according to Exhibit AA 520 B.
A~E~D. APP. 535 Hearing was opened on Amendment Application
ROBERTSHAW 535, filed by Go Howard Robertshaw, propns-
ing to amend Sectional District Map ~-5-10
by reclassifying frc~ the R 1 to the C 2
district, property on the north side of Warner between Van Ness and Main.
Planning Cc~m~ission Resolution 5721 rec~ende~ approval of E~hibit 535 B which
would reclassify to the C 5, R 1 B, and R 1 districts. The Clerk reported
that notice of the hearing was publishod in The Register em February 19, 1965
and that no written c~unications had been filed.
Howard Robertshaw, 182~ 8. E. Lcma RoJa Drive, Santa Ann, requested that the
twenty foot strip of R 1 on the west side of the property be startod at the
rear of the property an~ run a distance of sixty-five feet towar~ Warner instead
of the entire distance so that he could have access over the remaining portion
without nee~ Of variance. The Planning Director explaine~ that in the
Planning Commission hearing there had been opposition fram residential owners
on the west side of Van Ness and even up through this week, he had ass-~red them
that the applicant had not amende~ the application, as he now apparently was
attempting to do. Mr. Robertshaw stated he would ccme back with a variance
application. There being no further testimony, the hearing was closed.
On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Gilmore and carried,
Council approved the reclassification and instructed the City Attorney to
prepare an amending ordinance according to EMaihit AA 5~5 B.

arrived and the question of street layout as it would affect his property was
discusse~. He requested the matter be continued to a closer date. This being
agreeable with Mr. Van Busker, it was moved by Councilman Hubbard, seconded by
Councilman Schlueter and carried that the matter be continued to March 15, 19~5
instead of April 5, 1965.
