May 2, 1966
The meeting was called to order at 2:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers, 217 N.
Main Street. Roll call was answered by Councilmen James Gilmore, Walter
Brooks, Davis Burk, Wade Herrin, J. Ogden Markel, Tam McMichael and Mayor
Harry H. Harvey. Also present were Acting City Manager Hcmer Sterling, City
Attorney John Colwell, Director of Public Works Ron Wolford, Director of
Planning Van Stevens, and Clerk of the Council Doris }4. Brown.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Royal Hubbard, Attorney representing property owners George A. Parker and
LaVerne Gulley, requested Council defer action until after opening of
Edinger to determine its effect in terms of traffic flow onto the Newport
Freeway. Mr. George Ewing, 1510 S. Main, requested Council reconsider this
channelization and felt more time should be given to property owners to
attempt to establish alternative parking.
It was moved by Councilman McMichael, seconded by Councilman Herrin, that

that Council approve the reclassification and instruct the City Attorney
to prepare an amending ordinance according to Exhibit B.
HEARING - Hearing was opened on Amendment
AA 589 - LOWEEY Application 589 filed by Kenneth
il Lowery proposing the amendment
of Sectional District Map 23-5-10
by reclassifying from the R 2 to C 5 district property on the south side of
Edinger between Greenville and Fairview. Planning Commission Resolution
5778 recommended approval.
The Clerk reported notice of hearing was published in The Register, with
affidavit of publication on file, and no con~nunications received. There
being no response to the Mayor's call for testimony, the hearing was closed.

OVERWIDTH DRIVEWAYS
On motion of Councilman Brooks,
seconded by Councilman Burkand
carried, Council authorized
overwidth driveways for:
(a) South side of Alton opposite the end of Kilson to serve 3 industrial
buildings.
(b) Santa Ana College on Bristol.
